Video & Workshop

Short video advertisement for a film workshop hosted by Toronto International Deaf Film and Art Festival and Calgary Association of the Deaf, in partnership with Canada Council of the Arts. I was part of the workshop to talk about being a video editor and how to caption online videos.

I couldn’t resist creating a video with a sci-fi/fantasy feel because I love movies and tv shows with beautiful visual effects. This was a chance to try my hand at making a fantasy/sci-fi themed video!

Extensive graphic work was involved using Adobe After Effects and Trapcode Particular for the space travel effect, creating the earth, moon, stars and galaxies. Using Photoshop, I cleaned up the photos of the workshop’s speakers, and exported them to AE for use with Trapcode to create the 3D heads.

During the workshop, I showed the processes that went into producing this video. Using a video projector hooked up to my computer, I opened my project files in Adobe After Effects so the audience could see what video editing is about. We also practiced how to caption videos online and using captioning software on my computer. All in all, a very fun project I enjoyed working on!
